The Health Network is a secure communications network that enables the Ministry of Health and other health care professionals to communicate securely with one another over a closed, electronic network. Only approved organisations are able to access the network and the resources available on it.
The Health Intranet was officially launched in 1999 and was renamed to the Health Network in 2005. It was designed to assist the delivery of integrated healthcare by enabling different health organisations to exchange information over a secure network.
The Health Network forms part of the national framework for the secure and private collection and sharing of electronic health information within the Health & Disability sector.
